Dark circles are the common skin care concernsamongst men and women. There are a number of factors that contributes to dark circles. Some of the most common causes include lack of sleep, fatigue, stress, eye strain, allergies, sun exposure, dehydration, etc.
The treatment of dark circles depends on its cause. However, there are some natural ways to reduce dark circles.
Cold Compress: Apply a cold compress for about 10 minutes in the morning or evening and morning and evening. It reduces swelling and shrink dilated blood vessels. For cold compress, either wrap a few ice cubes in a clean washcloth and apply to your eyes or dampen a washcloth with cold water and apply it to the skin under your eyes for 20 minutes.
Cucumber:Cucumbers have skin-lightening and mild astringent properties. Chop a fresh cucumber into thick slices and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Leave these slices on your eyes for 10 minutes. Rinse your eye area with warm water after using the cucumber slices.
Rose Water: Soak cotton makeup remover pads or cotton pads in rose water for a few minutes. Let these pads sit on your closed eyelids for 15 minutes daily. Rose water soothes and rejuvenates your skin.
Tea Bags: Apply cold tea bags to your eyes can reduce dark circles. Soak cold tea bags in clean water and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Place the tea bags on your eyes. Leave for 10 minutes or so twice daily and rinse with warm water.
Almond Oil: Almond oil keeps the skin hydrated. Take 2-3 drops of Vitamin E oil and 2-3 drops of almond oil and mix them well. Apply the mixture gently to the area around your eyes. Massage for a minute. Leave it on overnight and rinse it with cold water.
Potato: Potatoes are a surprising source of lots of Vitamin C and promotes healthier and younger-looking skin. Grate the potatoes, extract juice and some cotton makeup remover pads in the juice. Place the pads on your eyes for about 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water.
Tomato:Mix equal parts of tomato juice and lemon juice and then use a cotton ball or makeup remover pad to apply it your under-eye area. Leave the solution for 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water, twice daily.
Sleep:Our body repairs itself while we are asleep. During sleep, your skin’s blood flow increases, and reducing wrinkles and age spots. It is highly recommended to achieve sleep for around seven to nine hours each. Poor sleep quality in people can be related to other lifestyle issues that often are related to aging. For example: an increase in sleep or anxiety can contribute to sleep deprivation. This will gradually reduce dark circles.
Healthy Eating:Food that is packed with antioxidants properties may improve the skin’s elasticity and protect skin against various skin care concerns and signs of premature aging such as dark circles. It is important that you focus on what you eat to avoid visible signs of aging. Eat a lot of vegetables and fruits such as green leafy vegetables, bell papers, broccoli, carrots, etc, and fruits such as pomegranates, blueberries, avocado, etc. You may also include green tea and olive oil in your diet.
Sun Protection: It is one of the most effective ways to protect you from the sun. The sun is responsible for any visible signs of aging on your skin. It can cause dark spots, pigmentation, or even wrinkles. So, it is always advisable to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (with at least SPF 30) even when you are indoors or on a cloudy day to reduce any visible signs of aging. Besides applying sunscreen, you may wear clothes that have long sleeves, sunglasses, and hats to avoid exposure to the sun and protect your skin from any damage.
