Winter is that time of the year when all we want to do is just stay inside our cosy blanket. We may call it often winter blue as become lazy to do anything at all. This cosy feeling, cold weather, and fewer social gatherings can make us sad and lonely.
Here are some tips that may help us get out over these winter blues.
- Go outside for a walk/run
Stepping out of our cosy home is what the major challenge is. But this can be a real energy booster. It also helps improve the mood and reduce sadness and anxiety. Listening to our favourite kind of music will also help us feel relaxed and happy. -
Exercise
Exercise is a powerful medium to charge up happy hormones. It produces endorphins that act as natural painkillers and help the ability to sleep and reduce stress. It even acts as a therapy for some people and also works as a medication for people who deal with anxiety and depression. It improves blood circulation to the skin surface. This helps in the supply of essential nutrients to the skin. It also provides oxygen to the skin and flushes out toxins which apparently lead to healthy glowing skin.
-
Healthy Diet
During winter we tend to eat a lot of fat-rich food in order to keep our body warm. However, it is extremely important that we eat healthily. Eat a lot of green vegetables, fruits, and fibre-rich foods such as lentils, broccoli, peas, raspberries, avocado, pears etc. These are essential for our body and keep the skin away from breakouts. Remember to avoid oily or fried foods and those high on carbs.
-
Drink Water
One mistake we all make during winters is to reduce the intake of water. We tend to feel less thirsty during winters but it is highly important that we drink a lot of water. It is the main element that detoxifies the skin as it flushes out the impurities from our body. Add a lot of liquids to our diet. For example: freshly pressed fruit juices or detox water.
-
Skincare
Cold winds during winter cause dry red patches along with tight, flaky dry skin. The dry air simply drains our complexion of its moisture. In the winters, we may use gentle cleanser milk or lotion that takes our impurities and keeps the skin moisturized at the same time. It also calls for a thicker moisturizer or body butter that keeps the skin nourished for a long time. While you pick your foundation, make sure it has nourishing properties and does not create a patchy look. Use a moisturiser on the lips several times a day, then apply lip gloss to protect them, or use lip balm with sunscreen.

Exfoliation
It is highly important to exfoliate our skin once a week to take off all the dead skin cells, especially during winters. Exfoliators help to remove dead skin cells, rejuvenate and cleanse the skin within. It also results in youthful skin. Exfoliators help to exfoliate the skin, which makes the skin look cleaner as it removes dead cells, dirt and impurities from the skin. They improve the quality and texture of the skin.
It is very important to follow a routine during winters to protect ourselves from this harsh weather. It is vital that we feel good about everything about and around us.
